Weebles' Story: From the Side of the Road to a Forever Home

In October 2021, a young, underweight dog with patchy fur and curved back legs was found wandering alone in rural Tennessee. That dog, later named Weebles, was brought to Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control (MACC), where it became clear he faced serious mobility challenges due to a severe condition known as grade 4 bilateral patellar luxation—his kneecaps were dislocated, causing significant deformity in both hind legs.

Despite the severity of his condition, Weebles showed an undeniable spark. With support from the Friends of MACC Emergency Medical Fund and a compassionate foster family, he began his long road to recovery. Weebles underwent two major surgeries at BluePearl Pet Hospital, funded almost entirely through donations raised by Friends of MACC and the Nashville community. Each step was carefully planned and documented, from his first surgery in January 2022 to his second in March, with followers cheering him on through Facebook updates.

Throughout his recovery, Weebles thrived in his foster home. He gained weight, his fur grew back, and his playful, loving personality emerged. His favorite activities included cuddling, playing with his dog siblings, and snuggling with the family’s young son. After months of rehabilitation and support, Weebles became healthy enough to be listed for adoption in mid-2022.

By June 2022, the once-abandoned pup had transformed into a handsome, happy, and active dog, ready to find his forever family. His journey is a powerful reminder of what community, compassion, and collaboration can achieve. Thanks to Friends of MACC, Weebles received not just medical care—but a second chance at life.

In summer 2022, Amanda Widner (Weebles' now owner) saw his story featured on Instagram and instantly fell in love. Weebles joined her family soon after and has been living his best life ever since.

Today, Weebles is 5.5 years old, and Amanda says they use Pet Releaf Hip & Joint Edibites daily to keep his knees feeling good. He also gets the Daily Releaf CBD oil as needed for skin allergies and overall wellness.

"He can zoomie and it’s amazing! You would never know that he could not walk before."
